Stratford is internationally renowned for its parks and glorious gardens and is annually recognized by Canada’s Communities in Blooms for its lush parks, river bank and heritage streets. We are best

Take a few days to stroll our heritage streets brimming with the warm tones of red and yellow brickwork, terra cotta turrets and ornate detailing found on Victorian, Gothic, Queen Anne and Beaux Arts buildings complemented by perennial gardens.
We offer free easy-to-follow garden tours and audio podcasts to guide you to our sights as you wander the gardens and heritage streets.
Among the paths of the famous Shakespearean Garden you will discover almost 60 varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers mentioned in Shakespeare’s time, many originating from the original Shakespeare Garden in England.
Stroll the banks of the Avon River watching the flirting swans as they romance each other bobbing and blowing bubbles, framed by Stratford’s bridges, garden alcoves and vistas of Victorian rooftops, turrets and bell-towers.
Stratford’s pastoral beauty is found everywhere you look. From hanging baskets and bouquets along patios in the heritage district to lilac dells, the Japanese garden, the Festival Theatre’s formal ornamental Arthur Meighen Gardens and beds of hundreds of irises – Stratford’s floral emblem. For those interested in hiking, you can head north or south roaming the 104 km Avon Trail or leisurely cycle along the back roads to St.Marys.
